AIR21-ARELLANO notched its first win by defeating Zambales M-Builders, 77-73, on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO Gym.
Arellano’s Jiovani Jalalon and Keith Agovida joined forces with Moncrief Rogado, scoring 11 of the Chiefs’ 21 points in the fourth to capture the victory.
Air21-Arellano coach Jojo Villapando admitted they still have a long way to go in terms of playing as a team after recording their first win after a 0-2 start.
“One month lang kami nag-prepare, hindi ko nga kilala ’yung mga players ko eh,” said Villapondo, whose team failed to obtain James Forrester, John Pinto, and Prince Caperal from the NCAA roster despite its school tie-up with the Chiefs.
Jalalon had 13 points, Rogado added 12, and Agovida 11 for the Chiefs, who outscored the M-Builders, 25-11, in the second quarter to grab the lead.
Zambales M-Builders, which couldn’t take advantage of a 19-9 start to the game, fell to 2-2.
