LOOKS like Jay-R Taganas, the owner of the record for most number of rebounds in a game, has found his match in AMA's Andre Paras in the PBA D-League.
Paras grabbed 22 boards - seven away from the league record set by Taganas in the Foundation Cup in 2015 back when he was still with AMA - on top of seven points and three blocks in a losing effort against Zark's Burger, 109-91.
When asked about it shortly after the match at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Monday, the 6-4 Paras bared he was neither aware of the record nor was he concerened about it.
His stats, Paras added, won't matter unless these translate into victory for the Titans, who are winless in three outings.
"I'm not aware of it. I don't really look at stats or records. It's an accomplishment kung na-match pero at the end of the day, kailangan manalo," he said.
"Individually we're doing well but we need to jel as a team. There are still a lot of lapsses. It's frustrating," he added.
But now that he's aware of it, the son of PBA legend Benjie said he will make it his personal motivation to break Taganas' record, all while helping turn things around for the Titans.
"There's motivation na you know, I'm undersized and to break a record will be a big accomplishment," he said.
The two undersized slotmen face each other on July 24.
