ALVIN Pasaol is embracing the role as a kuya to a young Petron-Letran squad as he serves as the reliable veteran in this 2019 PBA D-League campaign.
"Mas malaki yung role ko ngayon na ginagampanan sa Letran kasi ang laki ng tiwala na binibigay sa akin ng coaches," he said.
With the Knights' seniors Bong Quinto and JP Calvo taking their act to the PBA, the responsibility is suddenly vested on the shoulders of the super scorer from UE after he joined the team as a reinforcement in this run in the developmental league.
Lucky for them, it's not Pasaol's first rodeo after already having a stint with Marinerong Pilipino last season.
He averaged 9.4 points on a 29-percent shooting from threes, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists as he served as a complementary piece to that loaded Skippers crew.
But now, his role is different and Pasaol said that slowly, he's easing in to the team thanks to the warm welcome given to him by the squad.
"Yung pakikitungo nila sobrang ganda. Lahat ng teammates ko, mababait naman sila tsaka lahat sila magagaling," he said.
It didn't take long before the Pasaol of old did his job, almost tallying a triple-double in Petron-Letran's opener with his 33 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
Unfortunately, that performance didn't end up the way the 23-year-old winger envisioned as the Knights were dealt with a tough 96-94 defeat at the hands of Che'Lu Bar and Grill on Thursday in an unceremonious start to their campaign.
Showing immense maturity, though, Pasaol keeps his belief in the process as he expects bigger things ahead for his partnership with Petron-Letran.
"Ok naman yung team namin at maganda naman yung tinatakbo. Tiwala naman ako sa amin," he said.
Pasaol and the Knights spring back to action on Tuesday against AMA Online Education.
