    Almazan stars as EA Regen wins third straight

    RAYMUND Almazan dominated the shaded lane as EA Regen Medical Group beat Fruitas, 74-63, to stretch its win streak to three in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

    Almazan tallied 20 points and 14 rebounds, helping the Regens improve their win-loss record to 4-2 and forge a three-way tie with Fruitas and NLEX.

    “Take advantage lang namin ’yung big man namin and get back on defense right away para ma-control namin ’yung fastbreak nila,” said EA Regen coach Allan Trinidad. “Nangyari naman ’yung plano namin.”

    Jimbo Aquino also posted a double-double performance with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Regens.

    Ian Sangalang shot a disappointing 1 of 14 from the field but grabbed 14 rebounds for the Regens.

    Jonathan Semira scored all of his 15 points in the third period that saw EA Regen finish with a 22-4 run for a 58-46 advantage.

    Carlo Lastimosa had 25 points for Fruitas but didn’t get enough support from his teammates.

    EA Regen (74) – Almazan 20, Semira 15, Aquino 13, Maiquez 7, Sangalang 5, Ko 4, Terso 4, Sanga 2, Allen 2, Bautista 2, Juico 0, Tolentino 0, Miranda 0.

    Fruitas (63) – Lastimosa 25, Escobal 9, Caram 6, Escoto 6, Antonio 6, Cruz 5, Tolomia 2, Mendoza 2, Colina 2, Pogoy 0.

    Quarterscores: 21-12; 33-32; 58-46; 74-63.
