OLA Adeogun returned to provide Fruitas with a perfect mix of offense and defense in an 88-81 victory over Big Chill on Tuesday in the 2012 PBA D-League Apirants Cup at Trinity gym in Quezon City.
The Nigerian big man, who missed two games with a sprained right ankle, came up with 14 points and 14 rebounds to help the Shakers record their second consecutive win for an even record of 3-3 and a share of sixth spot with Cebuana Lhuillier.
Big Chill suffered its second straight loss and slid to joint third with Blackwater Sports at 4-2.
"Though we struggled in the last two games without Ola, masaya lang ako sa mga bata (sa panalo ngayon)," said Fruitas coach Nash Racela.
"Ola (Adeogun) brings a lot to the team, offensively and defensively."
Up by a slim three points, 62-59, at the end of third, the Shakers silenced the Super Chargers with a 12-0 run, including Mike Silungan's only two made triples early in the fourth period.
Big Chill countered with a 16-3 run to close the gap, 77-78, halfway in the final 10 minutes of action.
Fruitas recovered as Carlo Lastimosa sank his two free throw shots to stretch the lead back to three, 80-77.
The Shakers then widened the lead with seven baskets from the charity stripe.
After his 30-point explosion in their, 92-73, win against Erase Xfoliant last November 29, Lastimosa erupted with 32 markers, on 12 of 16 shooting from the field and 8 of 11 from the stripe.
"Lastimosa is consistent in our past six games," said Racela of the 21-year shooting guard.
Terrence Romeo led the Super Chargers with 18 points, Ryan Buenafe and Mac Montilla chipped in 13 and Arvie Bringas and Jessie Collado had 12 markers apeice.
