ACHIE Iñigo returns to the Philippines to play for Marinong Filipino in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup after a stint in the Asean Basketball League.
The new D-League team hopes to get decent numbers from Inigo, third best in assists among Kaohsiung Truth with a total of 36.
The Truth finished in the bottom of the six team tournament.
The 25-year-old Iñigo looks forward to his return to the Philippines especially under the new team’s head coach Koy Banal, who did a few games as television analyst for the Truth’s home games during the ABL season.
“Masaya and excited ako na makakalaro ulit ako sa D-League and with coach Koy. Hopefully, maging stepping stone ko ito to make it to the PBA next conference,” said Iñigo, who last played for Phoenix Petroleum in the PBA D-League before moving to the ABL.
Banal coaches in the developmental league after handling Phoenix in the PBA in 2016.
