ABEL Galliguez and Andrian Celada led Cagayan Gerry’s to a wire-to-wire win over Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, 73-57, on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Galliguez scored 14 points and Celada added 13 as Cagayan Gerry’s built a big lead early and held on.
The Rising Suns evened their record to 2-2, breaking a two-game slide that saw them lose big leads in the endgame.
“Ang maganda ngayon, nagkaroon ng ball rotation dahil dati, matagal sa isang player ’yung bola. Ngayon, umiikot na ’yung bola, plus ’yung depensa namin, nag-improve lalo na nung last quarter,” said Cagayan Gerry’s consultant Turo Valenzona.
Galliguez and Celada combined for 17 points in the first quarter as the Rising Suns posted a 26-16 lead and never looked back.
Galliguez hit 4-of-8 shots from the three-point range, three in the first half, while Celada added six rebounds and two steals for the Rising Suns, who missed Don Trollano due to an injury.
Denice Villamor had 14 points for the Giants (2-2), who had their two-game winning run stopped.
