COLLEGE of Saint Benilde kept its unbeaten run going with a 99-87 win over University of Santo Tomas on Tuesday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup.
Clemente Leutcheu had 22 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists as the Blazers improved to 5-0 (win-loss) after a highly physical game that saw CSB’s James Pasturan and UST’s Ira Bataller get thrown out.
Two UST players also fouled out of the game, which followed a reported scuffle among players from both sides during a tune-up game recently.
CSB coach Ty Tang, however, welcomed the physicality.
“It is a very physical game,” said Tang. “I thought there were missed calls but that’s something that we need, this kind of environment. It’s going to help us toughen up. It’s been a while. They haven’t had a good physical match and it’s a good experience for us.”
Edward Dixon had 16 points, while JJ Domingo added 14 points for the Blazers.
Kenneth Zamora had 22 points, while Zach Huang had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Growling Tigers, who slipped to 1-4.
