CJ Perez was all smiles when he faced a few reporters in the aftermath of Lyceum's 82-75 win over Jose Rizal University in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup in San Juan.
And why not?
The former Ateneo recruit has all the reasons to be happy after he was named to the mythical team in a season where he led the Pirates to a podium finish.
"Sobrang saya," he said. "Magandang nakuha namin to kasi first time to sa Lyceum."
Perez, however, knows the Pirates' rise to relevance in the preseason will have its drawbacks since they are expect to attract a lot of attention from opposing teams once the NCAA season begins.
The energetic forward is uperturbed, saying the Pirates are motivated to build on the gains of the preseason and work just as hard in the coming season.
"Yun nga, paghahandaan nila kami kasi maganda pinakita namin this preseason. Pero itutuloy pa rin namin lahat nung mga magandang ginagawa namin," he said.
"Lahat naman ng challenges na darating sa team namin, paghahandaan namin," he added. "Magse-celebrate kami ngayon pero the next day, back to work kami."
