FROM a critical standpoint, New Taipei Kings superstar Jeremy Lin has a lot to say about the distinct playing style of the Meralco Bolts.

While he wasn’t able to play them this East Asia Super League season, Lin has closely observed the system of Filipinos, and he sees a distinction with how those squads play to other Asian teams he's played.

“I didn’t get a chance to play this year against Meralco, but what I’ve seen is, I guess like it’s not right or wrong, it’s just different,” he said.

“What I’ve noticed from the PBA teams is the imports have a lot, you have to worry about the imports. They score and they score.”

The former NBA star had seen PBA imports score 30s to 40s per game, an odd culture he only see among Filipinos.

Lin continued: “In other leagues, that’s virtually [unheard of], you’ll never see something close to that. Maybe 25 points but even averaging 20 is already a lot. It’s a different style.”

Lin, however, found Meralco guard Chris Newsome too good to go unnoticed.

“We definitely have to focus in on the imports but Meralco has Newsome as well and he’s a great player. It’s not only the imports, you definitely have to focus on him,” he said.

The 36-year-old player behind 'Linsanity' also mentioned that he misses playing in the basketball-loving country.

“I’m good with any team in the PBA. It’s just good to have that exposure and also to be able to play. That’s one thing I miss, I wish we got to play in the Philippines this year because the love for the game for basketball is amazing out there and the fans are awesome,” he continued.

Lin and the New Taipei Kings will face the Ryukyu Golden Kings this weekend for a chance for EASL bronze.
