CHITO Jaime and Allan Mangahas became the first members of the MPBL’s 500-point club as Muntinlupa defeated Pasay, 80-67, in Thursday night's Datu Cup action at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.
Jaime first reached the plateau early in the fourth before Mangahas drilled a triple to also join his teammate in hitting the milestone on the same night as the Cagers picked up their second straight win and improved their card to 11-5.
Mangahas topscored with 21 points, while Jaime added 15 points for Muntinlupa.
Pasay dropped to its fifth straight loss to fall to 6-13.
In the first game, Marlon Monte had 20 points and Pasig beat Quezon City, 98-95, as the Pirates won for only the third time in 17 games.
The Pirates snapped a five-game losing streak, although the team still has a lot of catching up to do, needing to win all their remaining games to make it to the top eight.
Quezon City saw its three-game winning streak snapped as the team absorbed its ninth loss in 15 games but remained at sixth spot in the tough northern division of the emerging regional amateur basketball league in the country.
