ARELLANO used a strong first half to ward off Adamson 80-71 in Saturday and keep its unblemished slate in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at The Arena in San Juan.
The Chiefs claimed their fourth win in as many games, pulling away from the Falcons early by jumping out to a 41-17 lead in the second period.
National University, with a 5-0 card, is the only other unbeaten team in Group A. Adamson holds a 1-1 card.
“We started strong on both ends. We were so aggressive defensively and offensively,” said Arellano coach Koy Banal. “Nagkaroon kami ng double digit lead. When Adamson stepped on the pedal, at least we had a cushion.”
James Forrester contributed 16 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals for the Chiefs, who also got 13 markers from Allen Enriquez.
John Pinto had a double-double effort as he scored 10 points and dished out 14 assists. Ralph Salcedo added 10 markers.
Adamson came to within five points, 70-75, after two free throws by Ingrid Sewa with 2:03 left in the fourth. But the Falcons could not come up with another field goal.
Adamson, which got 24 points from Jericho Cruz and 13 rebounds each from Sewa and Rodney Brondial.
