CEBU — Chiang Kai Shek College capped off its Cebu goodwill tour with a resounding 64-49 win over Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Saturday afternoon at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.
Mohammed Salim, who is set to move to National University in the UAAP, scored nine of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to help the Blue Dragons hold off the Magis Eagles.
The Blue Dragons, champions of the National Basketball Training Center tournament, raced off to a 33-23 lead at halftime, ironically behind the superb play of a Cebuano and former University of San Carlos standout Shannon Gagate, who had 11 points in that stretch.
The Magis Eagles trimmed the deficit to just seven early in the fourth canto but Salim, who missed the Dragons’ 67-63 win over USC last Friday, fueled the breakaway.
Gagate finished with 18 for the Blue Dragons.
Janjan Jaboneta scored 12 for the Eagles before fouling out of the game.
CKSC also conducted a free basketball clinic for students from Mandaue City and hosted a feeding program at the Community Scouts Youth Guidance Center in Barangay Duljo.
The trip was organized by the Cebu chapter of the CKSC Alumni Association headed by president Tony Dy and former president Jimmy Yap. The trip marked CKSC’s first trip back to Cebu in 48 years. They last played here in 1966 and faced off against the Cebu Eastern College and San Miguel.
