    Chiang Kai Shek College turns back Hope Christian High School for fifth straight FCAAF title

    CHIANG Kai Shek College defeated Hope Christian High School, 78-69, to capture the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) Division A title recently at the CKSC gym.

    The Blue Dragons won the championship game to take their fifth straight title under head coach Goldwin Monteverde in the FCAAF tournament behind a large crowd at the newly-renovated CKSC gym in Manila.

    Miguel Oczon scored 15 points to win the Freego Best Player of the Game, while Sam Banez finished with 14 markers to cop World Balance-Headstart All Around Player as they propelled the Blue Dragons to the victory.

    Oczon and John Galinato sparked a 24-8 run in the third quarter as the CKSC Blue Dragons got their bearings to gain a 60-49 lead, after the HCHS Soldiers got off to an 11-0 start and a 41-36 halftime lead.

    The Blue Dragons survived the 33-point effort by Hope’s Ryan Quiambao en route to the title for the team that also won the PCABL tournament recently.

    Meanwhile, Manila Patriotic School won over St. Stephen High School, 65-56, to capture the Division A battle-for-third and take the third and final spot for FCAAF in the Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship (PSSBC).

    In the Division B final, Pace Academy beat Philippine Sun Yat Sen High School, 64-62. Pol Antiporda scored 21 points to lead the way for Pace.

    St. Mary’s Angel College of Valenzuela beat St. Peter Apostle School, 78-59, in the battle-for-third in Division B.

    Chiang Kai Shek College beat St. Stephen High School, 82-39, to nab the developmental division crown of the tournament also backed by Freego, MEC Networks, World Balance, and Molten.

    The league, which had Sunny Co as the tournament director, Willy Chan as commissioner, and Edster Sy as its sports marketing consultant, was also happy with the large turnout of student and parents during the competition and in the championship game thanks to social media presence, as well as player and audience incentives in each game.
