THE team from Tibet that topped the Chengdu stop of the SINA 3x3 Golden League 2018 will see action as a guest squad in the 3x3 Golden League Manila next week.
With the Chengdu win, the Tibet squad qualified for the SINA 3x3 Golden League National Finals in October 2018.
Tournament commissioner Allan Caidic said the victory by the squad from Tibet, some 2,000 kilometers away from Beijing, reflects what the 3x3 Golden League Manila seeks to achieve, which is to help develop 3x3 basketball outside of Metro Manila and in the countryside.
As guests, the Tibet squad will not be eligible to win prizes in the Manila tournament, according to Caidic.
“With 128 teams, it provides opportunities for other players to showcase their skills in 3x3 through this tournament. This is their chance to be noticed,” Caidic said, adding that he believes the Philippines can make it in this basketball discipline.
“With this tournament, we can already identify potential talents that we could tap for international competitions,” said Caidic.
