CHARLES Tiu will be taking over as head coach of Nueva Ecija in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), according to a source.
Tiu is set to replace Alvin Grey as Nueva Ecija continues to make changes to try and salvage its campaign in the Lakan Season.
Nueva Ecija is the bottom of the North division with a 2-12 record.
Tiu, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, will have TY Tang as one of the assistant coaches. Tang is the head coach of College of Saint Benilde in the NCAA where Tiu is part of his staff.
Nueva Ecija is now under a new management group with Jai Reyes now in charge as the head of basketball operations. The team, according to a source, also has a new owner in Nueva Ecija businessman Bong Cuevas.
Tiu recently led Mighty Sports to the Jones Cup crown when it represented the Philippines in the annual international competition.
