STRONG Group Athletics-Philippines (SGA) has officially secured its lead tactician for its upcoming William Jones Cup title defense.
Head coach Charles Tiu has been granted a last-minute clearance by the PBA board to call the shots for the Philippine representative as they seek a historic three-peat in Chinese-Taipei.

The clearance was a crucial final step, given Tiu's current active commitments as the head coach of the Phoenix Fuelmasters in the PBA.
The approval was secured with the pivotal help of Phoenix Super LPG governor Atty. Raymond Zorrilla, who facilitated the process and ironed things out with the league's board.
Tiu expressed his immense gratitude for the league's support, assuring that the necessary protocols were followed so he could answer the call of duty for the country.
"I think pinaalam naman sa PBA, very thankful to the board, through Boss Raymond [Zorrilla] naayos naman," said Tiu, who will be supported on the SGA bench by assistants TY Tang and Serbian mentor Vitaly Stepanovskyy.
While he emphasized that his priority remains Phoenix's campaign in the PBA, Tiu understands the immense weight of the upcoming Taiwan campaign.
For the Frank Lao-backed SGA squad bannered by local stars and top-tier imports, the Jones Cup is more than just a mid-year tournament.
It is a battle for national pride, and completing a rare three-peat on international soil is a mission they are taking very seriously.
