UNBEATEN Centro Escolar University looks to secure the top seeding in the semifinals when it goes for a repeat over Technological Institute of the Philippines on Thursday in the Universities and College Basketball League at the Olivarez Sports Center in Paranque City.
CEU Scorpions has nine wins and can clinch the top seed in the seven-team tournament in the 12 p.m. game.
The Scorpions handily beat the Engineers, 81-65, thanks to a 20-point, 20-rebound performance from Congolese import Rod Ebondo.
Ebondo was benched against Diliman College last Monday, for still unknown reasons, but Karlo Casino, Joseph Manlangit and Samboy de Leon and the Scorpions role players still got the job done and gave CEU an 81-54 win.
The Engineers are sporting a 6-2 mark and need to win one of their four remaining games to clinch a semis berth.
Clashing at 2 p.m. are semis contenders Colegio De San Lorenzo and Bulacan State University.
The CDSL Griffins (4-5), BSU Golden Gears (3-5) and Diliman College Blue Dragons (2-6) need to win their remaining games to shore up their semis bids.
