TOP seed Centro Escolar University and No. 2 Technological Institute of the Philippines look to set up a title showdown in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League at the Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque City.
The Scorpions hold a twice-to-beat advantage, but look to finish off the Colegio De San Lorenzo Griffins in one game in their 2 p.m. match.
Leading the Scorpions are 6-foot-6 Cameroonian center Rod Ebondo, Samboy de Leon, Orlan Wamar and John Carlo Casino, while the Bonnie Garcia-mentored Griffins have 6-foot-6 Jonjon Gabriel, Rustom Borja and Mark Kenneth Carongoy.
TIP faces the Olivarez College Sea Lions at 12 p.m., with the Sebastian De Vera-coached Engineers also needing to win once to advance to the finals.
“This is war time already so anything can happen,” said Garcia.
“If we want to play in the finals I told the boys to be ready and consistent from start to finish.”
Aside from having the crowd support, the Sea Lions enter the game confident following a stunning 65-63 win over the Scorpions on the final day of eliminations.
The Engineers will look to bounce back after a 73-61 defeat to also-ran Diliman College Blue Dragons in the tournament presented by Euro Med and Lamoiyan Corp.
