CEU eyes at least a playoff for UCBL semis spot as Scorpions face Lyceum Batangas

    Oct 21, 2018

STREAKING Centro Escolar University looks to secure at least a playoff for a semis spot when it battles Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas on Monday in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League Season 3 at the Olivarez College in Parañaque City.

The league-leading CEU Scorpions and the LPU Pirates clash at 12 p.m., with the former seeking their seventh straight win.

Olivarez College and Diliman College part ways at 2 p.m. with the winner assuming second place. Both are toting similar 5-1 cards.

Mentored by Derrick Pumaren, CEU grabbed the solo lead after reasserting its mastery over winless St. Joseph College of Bulacan, 113-77, last Thursday.

The Scorpions have dominated their rivals since absorbing a shock 86-83 defeat to the Olivarez Sea Lions in the opener.

Leading CEU are Maodo Diouf, John Rojas and Pierce Chan, who combined for 42 points the last time.

The Pirates, meanwhile, hope to get solid performances from Lowell Castro and 6-foot-6 Congolese Arsene Mulunda as they bid to improve their 3-3 record.
