Games Monday (Olivarez College gym): 12 noon – Olivarez vs PCU-Dasmariñas; 2 p.m. – CEU vs TIP
CENTRO Escolar University tries to clinch a semifinal berth when it faces Technological Institute of the Philippines on Monday in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 3 at the Olivarez College in Parañaque City.
Coming off a 10-day rest, the CEU Scorpions are expected to flaunt their firepower that enabled them to win seven straight games since dropping their opening game to the Olivarez College Sea Lions, 86-83.
Match is at 2 p.m. with the Scorpions heavily favored to repeat over the Engineers, who they clobbered, 83-57, in the first round.
While the Scorpions are on a roll, the Engineers are still smarting from a crushing 101-61 loss to the Diliman College Blue Dragons.
Aside from clinching a semis berth, a victory would push the Scorpions back on top leapfrogging the idle Blue Dragons.
Diliman is toting an 8-1 card in the tournament also backed by CaféFrance, Yakult, Gerry’s Grill, Hapee Toothpaste, MaxSell Power Tool and Tough Mama Home and Kitchen Appliances, Tanduay Athletics and Toyota Motor Philippines.
Meantime, the Sea Lions try to enhance their own semis campaign when they clash with the Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas at 12 noon.
The Sea Lions snapped a two-game losing run in style by blasting winless St. Joseph College of Bulacan, 114-47.
