PUTTING its recent heartbreak in a another league behind, Centro Escolar University cruised past Holy Trinity College, 74-61, to remain unbeaten in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Scorpions, whose core is part of the Café France squad that faced elimination in the PBA D-League after bowing to Blackwater in the quarterfinals on Thursday, encountered token resistance from the Wildcats en route to a fourth straight victory.
The Wildcats, on the other hand, suffered a fifth successive loss to stay at the bottom of Group C, but will have a huge boost with the addition of actor Gerald Anderson on Saturday.
Cameroonian slotman Rodrigue Ebondo sustained his imposing presence as he tallied 21 points, 19 rebounds, and five blocks, while Joseph Sedurifa waxed hot with five triples en route to 17-point output for the Scorpions.
“After the loss against Blackwater, we got our focus back sa Filoil,” Scorpions coach Egay Macaraya said.
The Wildcats, behind Edson Batller, tried to make a comeback but came no closer than 11 points, 67-56, in the last few minutes.
