CENTRO Escolar University scored its first win after three losses, downing St. Dominic College, 75-67, recently in the MBL Open basketball championship at the Lumera Gym in Legarda.
Patrick Aquino scored 16 and Sonny Saber added 13 as the Scorpions kept their semifinal hopes in the seven-team tournament alive.
The Yong Garcia-mentored Scorpions outscored the Red Pikes, 23-13, to take a 57-43 lead entering the final period.
Sherwin Lao and Vince Commandante paced St. Dominic with 14 and 11 points, respectively. The tournament is being supported by Smart Sports, Ironcon Builders, Dickies Underwear, PRC and Zucchero Cafe.
