CEBU CITY – For suspended University of the Visayas guard Franz Arong, it’s all about the team.
So much so that in Game One of the best-of-three series for third place between Gtreen Lancers and the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars, he gladly took on a new job with the squad — as waterboy.
Arong, suspended for his role in the scuffle with teammate Jeffakins Aguara in their 61-67 semifinal loss to the University of San Carlos weeks ago, poured water into cups and handed them out to every member of the team from the rookies to the coaching staff.
That aside from cheering the Lancers loudly from his seat at the far end of the bench.
“Sacrifice lang talaga. At least sa ganitong paraan, makakatulong ako sa team and kahit papano, may silbi pa rin ako,” said Arong after the game.
Arong said that it has been a humbling experience for him and Aguara as they now try to earn back their places on the team.
“Nagpa-practice pa naman kami. Prepare ng maigi at sana papalaruin na kami sa PCCL,” Arong said.
