CEBU CITY – The University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars dominated the middle periods to post an 84-65 rout of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers in the 16th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament on Saturday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

Sophomore wingman Tricky Peromingan finally broke out of a season-long shooting slump and scored 18 points while the high-leaping Miguel Gastador chipped in 15 for the Jaguars, who ended the first round in third place with a 4-2 win-loss card.

Jaybie Mantilla added 12 while rookie Victor Nunez contributed 10.

The Jaguars built a 58-35 advantage heading to the fourth after being tied at 17-all, thanks to a 41-18 run that was anchored on the hot shooting of Peromingan and Nunez.

So dominant were the Jaguars that they just shrugged off the measly eight-point output of Mythical Five forward RJ Dinolan.

Diminutive guard JP Batac was the lone player to reach double figures for USPF with 12. The Panthers finished the first round near the bottom of the standings with a 1-5 card.
