CEBU CITY – Congo’s Espoir Toyambi and Cameroon’s Shooster Olago scored 20 points each as University of San Carlos outlasted University of Cebu, 69-66, in overtime on Thursday in the Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Warriors scored their ninth victory in 10 games, taking provisional first place. Southwestern University could rejoin USC on top as they battle University of San Jose-Recoletos on Friday.

In the extra session, Olago took over, opening the stretch with six straight points to put the Warriors ahead, 63-62. Two free-throws by Victor Rabat and a baseline drive by Ian Tagapan with 14.9 seconds remaining sealed the victory for USC.
Toyambi also had 13 rebounds for USC, which heads to the semifinals armed with a twice-to-beat advantage by virtue of their top two finish.
Dacalos finished with 17 points while Clint Suelto chipped in 13 markers for UC which lost its eighth game in a row and now stands at the bottom with a 1-8 win-loss card.
