CEBU CITY — University of San Carlos bucked a sluggish start to rout University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 88-64, on Sunday for their second straight win in the 15th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
Cameroonian import Shooster Olago scored 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Warriors, who trailed, 6-16, but quickly covered and took a 34-28 lead at the half.
It was all Warriors from there as they opened the second half with a 14-2 blast that featured strong inside play from Olago and power forward Charles Pepito, and accurate perimeter shooting from Ian Tagapan.
USC stretched the lead to 29 when Kevin Oleodo entered in the final quarter and dropped three triples.
Tagapan contributed 13 points and five rebounds for USC.
Bradford Borces had 17 points for the Panthers, winless in two games.
In juniors action, two-time defending champion Sacred Heart School won their second straight game, 72-47, over the Cebu Institute of Technology-University.
Errol Pastor led the Eagles with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The USPF Baby Panthers also barged into the win column as they routed the UC Baby Webmasters, 93-68.
Ain Obenza led the Baby Panthers with 28 points, highlighted by six three-pointers.
