CEBU CITY – The University of Cebu Webmasters dumped the University of San Carlos Warriors, 72-50, to kick off their campaign in the 2018 Cesafi men’s basketball competition on Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Warriors scored the game’s first four points but that proved to be their only hurrah as the Webmasters quickly got their rhythm, resulting in a 22-6 lead, after the opening 10 minutes of action.
UC landed the death blow to USC in the third period where they held the Warriors scoreless for more than six minutes, while punching in 11 straight capped by a three-pointer by Paul Galinato to put them up, 57-29.
John Jabello led UC in scoring with 17 points while Cameroonian forward Frederick Elombe added 15. Darrell Shane Menina, playing in his first Cesafi game since donning UC’s colors back in high school, added 14.
Sommy Managor paced USC with 17 markers, Mythical Five forward John Reel Saycon put up 11 while Justin Jules Langres added 10 for a Warriors squad that appeared to be out of sorts in spite fielding in a team filled with veteran players.
