CEBU CITY – Sweet-shooting Kevin Oleodo exploded for 14 points in the fourth period to help propel the defending champions University of San Carlos Warriors past the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers, 69-62, in the 16th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
Rarely used except for spot minutes in his first few seasons in the Cesafi, Oleodo has since been unleashed by new head coach Rommel Rasmo to devastating results.
His latest outburst saw the 5-foot-10 guard total 19 points spiked by five three-pointers that helped the Warriors come back from a 42-50 deficit early in the fourth quarter.
Rookies Conrad Catapusan and Jules Langres also did damage, combining with Oleodo to score all of USC’s points in the final canto. Catapusan and Langres scored 10 each.
The Warriors now hold a 4-4 (win-loss), good for fourth in the standings.
USPF on the other hand, dropped to 1-6 in spite of the 19 points and seven rebounds of Lyndon Colina and the 13 markers and nine boards of Kenneth Cada.
