CEBU CITY — Senegalese forward Lamine Thiam did it all as the Southwestern University-Phinma (SWU) Cobras thrashed University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers, 86-66, in the 2019 Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum on Saturday, September 14, 2019,
Thiam filled the stat-sheet up with 24 points, 20 rebounds, two assists, a steal and six blocked shots as SWU-Phinma took the lead in the standings with their 2-0 (win-loss) record.

Veteran forward Dyll Roncal added 14 points while the backcourt of William Polican and rookie Kent Sanchez had 11 points each.
Trailing by 16 at the start of the fourth, USPF rallied and pulled to within nine, 61-70, with 3:02 remaining. However, Roncal kept USPF at bay by hitting a three-pointer from the corner to push SWU-Phinma’s lead to 12, 73-61.
Then after USPF’s Graggy Sarahina scored a deuce, Polican canned another triple that sparked a 13-3 game-ending binge to put the win in the bag for the Cobras.
Sameen Swint had 28 points and pulled down five rebounds for USPF, which dropped to 1-2.
