CEBU CITY — Southwestern University Phinma seized the lead in the standings with a 67-60 win over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers on Saturday in the 2019 Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Cobras improved their win-loss record to 7-2, half a game ahead of the idle University of the Visayas (6-2).
SWU skipper Dyll Roncal, Shaquille Imperial, Red Cachuela and Senegalese forward Lamine Thiam all had a hand in the game-deciding run that notched the Cobras the victory.
Thiam once again led SWU-Phinma with 21 points while Roncal added 10.
The Panthers on the other hand, remained winless in the second round where they have lost four in a row to sit with a 3-7 card.
American guard Sameen Swint had a quiet game with only 11 points while RR Cauba added 10.
