CEBU CITY — University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) rode the game-long brilliance of American wingman Sameen Swint to a 79-66 victory over Cebu Institute of Technology-University in the 2019 Cesafi basketball tournament on Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Panthers took over early in the fourth with a 9-2 run for a 65-41 lead.
The Wildcats pulled to 63-70 after Jesse Aloro Jr. canned a midrange jumper over Swint.
However, the Panthers managed to widen the gap again with a Karl Langahin triple that made it 73-63, with just 1:23 to go.
Swint wound up 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Panthers evened its win-loss record at 2-2.
Alje Mendez also had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Wildcats remained winless in four games.
Aloro finished with 20 points and seven boards, while rookie big man Jan Jabonete had 11 points and 13 boards.
