CEBU CITY — Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu scored their 11th straight win, clobbering University of the Visayas, 74-57, on Saturday in the Cesafi juniors basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Magis Eagles broke the game wide open with an 11-3 run, turning a slim 42-38 margin into a 53-41 bulge en route to their third win in the double round-robin semifinals
Janjan Jaboneta had nine of his 28 points during that stretch.
The Eagles pulled away with a 17-2 blast in the fourth, with three-pointers from Pio Longa and Emilo Nacua making it 72-47.
Joshua Flores had 18 points, while Orlan Wamar and JC Escalona combined for 22 markers as UV suffered their first loss after three wins in the semis.
In the other game, University of Southern Philippines Foundation grabbed their first win in the semis, beating Cebu Institute of Technology-University, 72-67.
Ain Obenza had 18 points, while John Alocillo ably backed him up with 17.
Clyde Avancena and JB Bahio chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively, as USPF improved to 1-2 and sen CIT-U to its third straight loss.
