    Reelected PFF president Nonong Araneta focusing on formation of national football league

    MARIANO “Nonong” Araneta  has a new four-year term as Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president.

    The 61-year-old former national team skipper, who has been the country’s top football official since late 2010, ran unopposed in the 12th PFF congress on Friday at the Century Park Hotel in Manila that also saw the appointment of M’lang, North Cotabato mayor Joselito Piñol as vice president.

    Quezon province football association’s Lalaine Sarmiento was also appointed as representative of the women’s sector in the PFF Board of Governors.

    Azkals manager and national teams committee chief Dan Palami was also elected to the board.

    After working on grassroots development in his first term, Araneta, also a member of the Asian Football Confederation Executive Committee, is focusing this time on the formation of the national league expected to kick off in 2017.
