CEBU CITY – The Highlands Corned Beef-University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters showcased their vast improvement as they took down the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos Warriors, 77-74, in the 8th Cesafi Partner’s Cup on Thursday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Webmasters squandered an eight-point fourth period lead but found their bearings in time to pull off the huge upset and improve their win-loss record to 2-1 in this preseason tournament. The Warriors, on the other hand, fell to 1-2.

Tied at 54-all, the Webmasters surged ahead after Geleant Delator and Jhan Jabello sank consecutive three-pointers. Wily forward Fil Culango then added a couple of perimeter makes to give UC a 64-56 advantage.

USC, though, recovered and retaliated with 12 straight points to grab the upper hand, 68-64, with 3:26 left on the clock. But UC kept their eyes on the prize and fired back with a triple from Justine Dacalos and a three-point play from Delator to regain the lead, 70-68. USC big man Dolan Adlawan then tilted the game in their favor with an and-one play that netted them a 71-70 lead.

But UC simply wanted it more and rallied behind Culango, who scored four straight points to push the Webmasters up, 74-71, with only 54.7 ticks left.

Adlawan made USC's last field goal as UC sealed the win with crucial hits from the free throw line.

Delator paced the Webmasters with 26 points, Culango and JR Puerto chipped in 14 each, while Jabello added 10.
