CEBU CITY – University of the Visayas booked a ticket to the finals as it continued its mastery of Southwestern University, 70-62, on Sunday in the 8th Cesafi Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.

Tristan Albina torched SWU’s defense in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 straight points to boost what was a precarious 53-48 UV lead into a 64-54 advantage with less than five minutes to go.

Albina finished with 19 points, highlighted by 5-of-12 shooting from behind the arc.

Worthy UV import Bassiere Sackour pulled down 21 rebounds to go with his 11 points and two blocked shots.

The win was UV’s second straight in the round-robin semifinals and their eighth in a row including eliminationround matches. The top two teams at the end of the semis advance to the best-of-three championship series.

Two-time Cesafi MVP Mac Tallo had a near triple-double of 11 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for Phinma SWU, which now holds a 1-1 win-loss record.

Shaquille Imperial led the Cobras with 16 points, while fellow rookie Darwin Barte added 10.
