CEBU CITY – Joshua dela Cerna exploded for 35 points and 11 rebounds to power Cebu Institute of Technology-University to its first win in the 15th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi), a 92-87 overtime trouncing of University of Cebu on Saturday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

While Dela Cerna scored the bulk of the Wildcats’ output, it was guard Steven Bucao who came through with the biggest basket as he sank a three-pointer from way beyond the arc in the final 40 seconds that shattered an 87-all deadlock.

After UC guard Justine Dacalos airballed his attempt from deep three at the other end, Allan Dimco sealed the win for CIT-U with a layup.

Dimco finished with 18 points to help the Wildcats score their first win in four games.

Garciano Puerto and Dacalos combined for 41 points but the effort proved not enough to keep the Webmasters from falling to an even 2-2 card.

The Wildcats led by as much as 43-27, behind the scoring barrage of dela Cerna, who dominated the Webmasters’ undersized frontline with an array of shifty post moves.

But UC came roaring back after halftime and even took the lead, 47-45, off a lay-in by Dacalos.

Dela Cerna then came alive once again, scoring 11 points in the last four minutes of the third to push the Wildcats back on top, 61-54, heading to the final frame.

However, Dela Cerna fouled out in the fourth and the Webmasters were quick to capitalize, forging overtime play at 77-all after a daring drive by Dacalos.
