SWU Cobras stretch unbeaten run to 11 games with rout of winless CIT-U Wildcats

CEBU — Southwestern University scored its 11th win in as many games, beating Cebu Institute of Technology-University, 85-54, on Thursday in the 16th Cesafi basketball tournament on Thursday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

John Lloyd Luz scored 15, Bernie Bregondo added 12 and two-time MVP Macmac Tallo chipped in 11 points, six assists and four rebounds to get SWU the victory and bring them closer to a sweep of the elimination round.

Already assured of an outright spot in the semis, the Cobras did not let up and broke the game wide open with a 13-2 run late in the second that put them up, 41-23, at halftime.

SWU continued to pour it on and later uncorked a 15-3 salvo capped by seven straight from Luz for a 73-42 edge.

Steve Bucao had 12 for the Wildcats which remained winless in eight games so far this season.
