CEBU CITY – University of San Carlos booked the last ticket to the semifinal round with an emphatic 82-60 win over Southwestern University at the close of the elimination round of the 2018 Cesafi basketball tournament on Tuesday at the Cebu Coliseum.
USC tied University of Southern Philippines Foundation at 5-7, but the Warriors earned the fourth seed in the semifinals on points difference.
USPF won over USC, 79-77, in the first round but USC defeated USPF, 66-60, in the second round of the double round-robin eliminations.
The Warriors take on top-ranked University of San Jose-Recoletos in the semifinals, which begins on October 20. The Jaguars have a twice-to-beat advantage.
Sommy Managor led USC with 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting while Mythical Five forward John Reel Saycon had 16 points, seven rebounds and nine assists to go with three steals and two blocks.
Jules Langres scored 13 and Froilan Mangubat added 10.
The Cobras finished the season with two wins against 10 losses.
