FROILAN Mangubat finally broke out of his shooting slump as he hit five three-pointers in the second half to help the University of San Carlos beat the University of Cebu, 75-59, in the 2019 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) men’s basketball tournament on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the Cebu Coliseum.

Mangubat, who had one sizzling performance after another in the preseason but had been mired in a dismal shooting malaise in the first round, sparked a 15-2 run with three straight three-pointers to put the Warriors up by 20 points, 46-26, at the 5:50 mark of the third canto.

USC sank a total of 12 three-pointers.

UC pulled to within 12 points, 56-68, after five straight points by Darrell Shane Menina but Mangubat assisted on a basket by Nigerian forward Sommy Managor, Kurt Trangia drained a triple and Mangubat scored on a breakaway layup to put the game away.
