CEBU CITY – The high-flying University of the Visayas high school star Popoy Actub grabbed the title of Cesafi slam dunk king, defeating erstwhile champ Miguel Gastador in the slam dunk competition on Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.
It was a virtual one-on-one match up between t
he University of San Jose-Recoletos’ Gastador and Actub but the latter took home the trophy as he capped off the aerial show with a tomahawk slam that came after he did a cartwheel and a backflip.
Meanwhile, in the three-point shootout, the University of San Carlos’ John Reel Saycon emerged as the league’s pre-eminent marksman after he scored 17 points in the final round, besting Christopher Isabelo of the University of Southern Philippines Baby Panthers and his USC teammate, Froilan Mangubat, who each had 15 points.
