JUBILEE Christian Academy, Saint Jude Catholic School and Philippine Cultural College started their campaigns in the Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association basketball competitions with big wins at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Carlo Lim scored 25 points as Jubilee Christian School led from start to finish against Grace Christian College, 86-56.
Kyle Barraza added 18 points, including two triples.
Marcus Lu paced Grace Christian with 22 points while Ralph Lim posted a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Saint Jude Catholic School edged league-debuting Saint Stephen’s High School, 67-65.
Mallechi Colby Lim knocked in 18 points for St. Jude.
Philippine Cultural College stunned Pace Academy, 75-72, in overtime.
PCC opened the overtime period with five unanswered points, with D’Lanor Angelo Tan completing a three-point play and Rafael Ckenji Pangilinan hitting a basket inside to move ahead, 75-70.
In the lone 18-under Girls Juniors Division game, Jubilee Christian Academy stunned three-time defending champion Uno High School, 53-51, to join early winners Saint Stephen’s High School and Saint Jude Catholic School.
Sandra Villacruz scored 20 points as Jubilee ended the Lady Uneans’ 31-game win streak over three seasons.
