Canada-GIGG turned on the switch in the second period as it routed New Zealand, 101-66, in the opening day of the PSL Global Championship Challenge on Monday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The under-16 team composed of Fil-Canadians outscored the Pinoy-Kiwis, 39-12, in a telling second quarter to blow the game wide open.
New Zealand, represented by Fil-Nation Select NZ, turned the ball over 28 times in the first half, which resulted in 37 points at the other end for Canada.
All in all, New Zealand turned the ball over 49 times and Canada capitalized on those miscues by scoring 54 points.
Martin Adelantar led the way for New Zealand with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field. Kayden Dayno added 21 while three other players wound up in double figures.
Ethan Sarsadias had nine steals to go along with his 17 points, while Jacob Langman finished with a double-double showing of 13 points and 13 boards. Nathan Tabisola chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds in the win.
