CAMSUR Express remained unscathed as Sulong Zambales at Batang Gapo won at home in National Basketball League-Pilipinas President’s Cup Season 2024 action on Friday at the Subic Sports Complex.
The Express routed Valenzuela Workhorse, 131-80, to capture their third win in as many games to remain in front in the team standings.
Sulong Zambales at Batang Gapo leaned on a game-winning three by Jake Militante to overcome Nueva Ecija Granary Buffalos, 105-101, to claim its second in their fourth game, while winning the match in its home floor.
Rafael Vibares had 22 points, while Marco Lumberio added 21 points while shooting 6-of-14 from threes for the Express.
Sulong Zambales spoiled the opening game of Nueva Ecija, which took the lead 101-100 on a lay-up by Kian Fontanilla, but the home squad quickly responded with Militante draining a three to reclaim the lead.
Lyndon Del Rosario scored two free throws to settle the final score as Sulong Zambales bounced back from its 124-99 defeat over Tikas Kapampangan in the season opener last August 3.
Allen Fomera had 34 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, and seven steals for Sulong Zambales.
Action resumes on Sunday at the Colegio De Sebastian Gym in San Fernando, Pampanga with Camsur going for its fourth win against winless Paranaque Smile 360 at 4 p.m.
Tikas Kapampangan battles Taguig Generals in the second game at 6 p.m.
