CAMSUR Express picked up the early lead in the National Basketball League-Pilipinas President’s Cup following twin victories recently.

The Express stunned reigning champion Taguig Generals, 105-95, at the Jun Duenas Gym in Taguig City, and defeated Sulong Zambales, 118-95, at the San Dionisio Gym to start the conference with a 2-0 win-loss record.

Jerome Almario had a rousing debut for the Express, scoring 33 points and grabbing 12 rebounds against the Generals, and finished with 29 points and nine steals against Zambales.

Camsur captured the victory in its first game since losing to Taguig Generals via sweep in their best-of-five finals in the Chairman’s Cup earlier this year.

The Express retooled for the conference with six rookies in their roster.

Rafael Vibares, one of the rookies of the team, had 18 points and six rebounds for Camsur in the game against Taguig, while holdover Verman Magpantay added 13 points for the Express.
