CALOOCAN will be having a team in the third season of the National Basketball League (NBL) with the entry of the Escentz Coffee Kings.
Escentz president and CEO Brendahl Cruz recently formalized the entry of the company in the homegrown league during simple ceremonies with NBL vice president for basketball operations Edward Aquino welcoming the new team.
The company is known for its perfume brands but recently launched its detox coffee with gluthatione and collagen brand which it will parade during the third season of the league set to open in November.
“We believe NBL is a very prestigious league,” said Cruz. “We feel that this is the best platform para ma-promote namin ‘yung aming company and promote basketball na malapit sa puso ng mga Pilipino.”
“Ito ang magandang paraan para makilala ang aming mga produkto,” said Cruz, who was joined in the launch by vice president for operations Arturo Bondoc, vice president for marketing Aurelio Agustin, and admin and HR head Adrian Ayson.
Arnold Oliveros was recently appointed as the head coach of the Caloocan squad with Dennis Javier Arca serving as team consultant and Alvin Abelardo as team manager.
“We are busy building the team. We are looking at the talents of Caloocan. We will be forming a young and competitive team. I believe the philosophy of the coaching staff is a young team with speed. We are also trying to build a team na warrior at hindi susuko sa laban,” said Cruz.
Oliveros is looking to form a competitive team based on his familiarity with the league, having coached the Imus Bandila last season.
“Talagang lahat competitive so we have to prepare the team talaga especially sa practice. Dapat pukpukan para ma-achieve namin sa games,” Oliveros said.
