Caidic and Co. to raise P5,000 for Yolanda victims for every trey made in 'Champions For A Cause' shootout

    Dec 3, 2013

SAN Beda’s current and former head coach Boyet Fernandez and Frankie Lim will try to beat one of the best shooters in Philippine basketball history in De La Salle assistant coach Allan Caidic in a three-point shootout that will spice up the ‘Champions for A Cause’ benefit game on December 7 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The contest will actually be a team event with Fernandez and Lim teaming up with De La Salle’s Almond Vosotros when they go up against Caidic’s team that includes Jeron Teng and Alaska guard JVee Casio.

La Salle great Lim Eng Beng was supposed to join the side event but was not cleared by doctors due to health reasons.

Filoil Flying V Sports, the organizer of the event, said they will donate P5,000 for every three-point shot made in the side event to the relief effort for the victims of super typhoon ‘Yolanda.’

The three-point shootout is expected to spice up the exhibition game between the UAAP and NCAA champions this week as the two teams rekindle their rivalry in the old NCAA.

Caidic, a former University of the East Red Warrior, is regarded as one of the best three-point shooters the country has produced as he once scored 17 triples in a game while playing for Presto in the PBA.

Lim saw action for San Beda in the late 1970s and was known for his three-point arsenal in his PBA days before becoming the head coach of the Red Lions in 2010 and 2011.

Fernandez was also a known shooter during his playing days with Sta. Lucia, Alaska, Pop Cola, and Purefoods in his 12-year PBA career.
