CAIDA Tiles disposed of Supremo Lex, 96-62, on Saturday night to advance to the semifinals of the PCBL Founders Cup at the JCSGO Gym.
Euro-Med squandered a 12-point fourth quarter lead and needed late-game heroics by Mar Villahermosa to repulse Kama Motors in overtime, 85-78, to join Caida Tiles and early qualifier Jumbo Plastic in the next round.
Roider Cabrera broke a tie at 61 with a triple to put Kama Motors ahead with 46 seconds left, but Villahermosa hit a triple in the dying moments to send the game to extra minutes.
Euro-Med started overtime with back-to-back treys from Alvin Abundo and Samboy de Leon to put away Kama Motors.
“Thankful ako kay Mar because if not for him, we won’t be playing in the semifinal round,” said Euro-Med coach Yong Garcia.
“We’ve learned our lessons from this game. Our team has a tendency to relax and we nearly paid the price. We’re lucky to be here.”
