    Cagebelles make debut in MMBL's 30th season

    THE Seaoil Metro Manila Basketball League marks its 30th year by including a girls division for the first time when it kicks off its season on November 10 at the Ynares Center in Pasig City.

    A total of 62 high school teams are set to see action in the boys' tournament where entries will be divided into four divisions according to the team’s strengths.

    Some schools have also entered more than one team.

    Schools from the UAAP, NCAA, and Tiong Lian league will be placed in the first and second divisions, respectively, while eight teams participate in the inaugural tournament of the girls' division.

    “The main innovation is to include the eight girls teams,” said MMBL founder coach Ato Badolato during the formal launching of the meet on Monday.

    Games will be played during weekends at the PhilSports Arena, San Beda College gym, and St. Stephens High School.

    Those playing in Division I-A include Adamson, Chiang Kai Shek, Collegio de San Juan de Letran, De La Salle Zobel, Far Eastern University, Our Lady of Fatima, and University of Santo Tomas.

    In Division I-B are Ateneo, Hope Christian High School, Malayan Institute of Technology, National University, San Sebastian, University of the Philippines Integrated School, and Xavier School.

    Division II-A has Arellano, Chiang Kai Shek College, De La Salle Zobel, Faith Academy, Far Eastern University-FERN, National University, San Beda, and UNO High School.

    In Division II-B are Emilio Aguinaldo, International School of Manila, Kings Montessori School, St. Stephen’s High School, University of Santo Tomas, Xavier School, and San Sebastian.

    In Division III-A are College of San Benilde-Rizal, Escuela de Sofia of Caloocan, Rich Golden Montessori School, San Beda, Southridge School, St. Jude Catholic School, Trinity University of Asia, and Gymnazo School.

    Division III-B includes Australian International School, Colegio San Agustin Binan, International School Manila, Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, Reedley International School, San Beda College-Alabang, Southridge School, and St. Andrew’s School.

    Division IV-A is composed of La Consolation College Manila, Chiang Kai Shek College, Dominican College Sta. Rosa, Espiritu Santo Catholic School, National University, San Beda College-Alabang, Southridge School, and St. Stephen’s High School.

    Division IV-B will have Faith Academy, La Salle College Antipolo, Our Lady’s Angels School, Quezon City Science High School, San Beda, St. James Academy Malabon, The Seed Montessori School, and Xavier School.

    The girls division is made up of Chiang Kai Shek, De La Salle Zobel, Faith Academy, La Salle College Antipolo, St. Jude Catholic School, UNO High School, Casimiro Ynares Memorial School, and Hope Academy.
