    Cabrera, Cruz propel Falcons past Red Lions

    ROIDER Cabrera scored 20 points and Jericho Cruz added 16 as Adamson waylaid the rookie-laden San Beda Red Lions, 72-63, recently in the Fr. Martin Cup at San Beda College’s St. Placid gym.

    Cabrera scored eight points in the last 5:45 to help the Falcons widen a 47-45 third quarter edge to 10, 55-45. The Falcons joined defending champion Ateneo-B Blue Eagles in the early lead of Group B.

    The Falcons spoiled the debut of six-foot-five Cameroonian newcomer Pierre Tankoua, who led the Red Lions with 14 points. He scored 10 in the third period but went scoreless in the final frame.

    Francis Munsayac came up with 17 points and John Tayongtong added 14 points as EAC stopped St. Clare, 67-60.

    The Generals share the top spot in Group A with Ateneo-A.

    In the juniors division, University of the East prevailed over Adamson, 76-70, while Fatima University won over Jesus is Lord Christian Foundation, 76-74.
